Matt Gemmell talks about his blog post Confessions of an ex-developer

Matt is a freelance writer and aspiring novelist. He has written for many magazines and newspapers, such as The Guardian, Macworld, MacUser, The Loop Magazine, Offscreen, Tap!, and more. He has been interviewed, featured and quoted in various periodicals and news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, BBC News, The Guardian, The Register, .net Magazine, and many more. He has been writing online on his own blog at mattgemmell.com for twelve years, and has an annual readership of over a million people.

Previously, he spent seven years as a usability consultant and software engineer, with clients including Apple and other Fortune 100 companies, as well as independent developers. He has spoken at conferences worldwide on a variety of topics including usability, user experience, software design, accessibility and innovation, and has released many open source projects that have been used in hundreds of applications on iOS and OS X.

He lives in the city of Edinburgh, in Scotland, with his wife Lauren.
